Borough of Flemington

An historical town expresses itself with modern technology

Background

The Borough of Flemington, NJ traces its history back to the early 1700’s. It is well-known as the location of the trial for the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby, its beautiful Victorian architecture, and its many outlet shopping centers.

Objectives

The Borough of Flemington hired Verascend to develop its official Web site. Some goals of the site were to:

  • Improve communication between the borough government and residents;
  • Provide a forum for the borough council to communicate meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and details on proposed initiatives as well as the status of current initiatives;
  • Provide a forum for the mayor to communicate his vision for the borough;
  • Give periodic updates to inform the residents of recent accomplishments;
  • Provide contact information for council members and department heads;
  • Support the downloading of forms that would otherwise require a trip to the borough hall;
  • It was imperative that the site be easy to navigate, comprehensive, and reflective of the borough’s unique community of friendly people, Victorian architecture, and long, rich history.

Solution

Verascend worked closely with members of the borough council to establish the look and feel that they desired. The site contains information on every aspect of the borough, drastically reducing the amount of phone inquiries that are received. It also provides downloadable forms for everything from marriage licenses to construction permits, allowing residents to access these without traveling to the municipal building, and saving borough employees the time of providing the forms and answering questions.
